	Mideando String Quintet is proposing a brand new kind of music that EBMA (European Bluegrass Music Association) has defined as : NEW ACOUSTIC MUSIC The use of acoustic instruments as mandolin, octave mandolin, cello, guitar, bass guitar creates a new and unmistakeable sound. Pop, Rock and Jazz music influence and enrich their well refined vocal harmonies and art texts. In the CD "L'INVERNO DEI COLTELLI", published in Fall 2000, there are original songs written by Mideando; this CD is the result of a in-depth musical research that puts together the sound of their acoustic instruments and italian texts written by Mr. Giulio Mozzi (book writer for Mondadori-Einaudi). During their show many Covers, fully rearranged, are performed. Some of these songs are collected and available in a Live CD called "BOOTLEG !", recorded during the 2001 Tour. The new CD "Viaggio..." We hope the World of Bluegrass will give them a warm welcome! In the issue of March-April 2007 of the IBMA Magazine, there is an article regarding the MSQ like #1 European Bluegrass band 2006. They will represent European Bluegrass Music at the IBMA's World of Bluegrass 2007 in Nashville USA, in october. The IBMA Magazine is distribuited all over the world. The band are working hard at recording a new CD to be released in summer 2007. 2006 At the 9th EWOB 2006 - European World of Bluegrass and Acoustic Music Festival - 25, 26, 27 may, Voorthuizen, Holland - MIDEANDO STRING QUINTET won the FIRST PRIZE like BEST EUROPEAN BAND OF THE YEAR. As a result of such prize, on 2007 the band will be on tour in the United States with final dsetination Nashville, Tennessee In May the band it will be for fifth year to the EWOB "European Festival of Acoustic Music" in Holland - Voorthuizen -, MSQ is the only European group to being invited for five editions. In July the formation will participate to prestigious MONTREAUX JAZZ FESTIVAL 2006 - Switzerland. In september tour in Ireland and participation to ULSTER ACOUSTIC MUSIC FESTIVAL, Dublino 2005 The Mideando String Quartet won the First Prize at the music competition RISONANZE UNPLUGGED 2005, a competition for singer-composers and unplugged bands, sponsored by Experimenta Association ( www.associazioneexperimenta.it/risonanze/ ) in cooperation with Limena (Padova) Administration Commune and Progetto Giovani. At the competition - this year at its IV edition - took part 153 artists from all over Italy. Only 6 of them were admitted at the final, last Saturday 10th December, at "Falcone-Borsellino" theatre of Limena. This was the jury comment: "The individual technique merges in the execution of the group giving birth to a poetic and passionate live performance that has involved the public. The instruments strings have made vibrating the strings of our souls! Mideando wins the PADOVANDO MUSIC AWARD, the more than 10 Months long's survey involving the www.padovando.com readers and making them choose the preferred band from Padova among the proposed ones. At the end the winners were the experienced four Mideando... "Strictly Country", the most important and influential European of acoustic music's magazine, devotes the cover page and the main article to MSQ, the unique italian band invited for 4 following years to EWOB Festival. 2004 The Group opened the national show that "Nomadi" held in Novellara, Reggio Emilia, on 14th and 15th February 2004 to celebrate the 40 year's activity. " 2003 Sun. 13 July 2003, at the Final Contest organized by NOMADI FANS CLUB (Trebaseleghe, PD - I) in cooperation with RADIO ITALIA 1, MSQ won the first place. Consequently they will open the NOMADI's Show next February 2004 in Novellara, Reggio Emilia, to celebrate the 40th year of the Band. Fri. 11 July 2003, from 13:35 to 14:00 p.m., Mr. Pergolani and Mr. Renato Marengo, leaders on the Radio Show SUMMER DEMO and transmitted by RAI STEREO UNO, dedicated the whole program to MSQ. several Live and Studio songs have been transmitted, mainly from the 2003 Tour. Thu 13 November 2003, MSQ has been guest of the Live Radio Show "Highway 61", conducted by dj Massimo Ferro for Radio Voce Spazio (Alessandria - I). See www.highway61.it MSQ won the third place - see mail - among the best acoustic bands in Europe at EWOB 2003 (29 - 31 May 2003, Voorthuizen, Holland). MSQ was the only Italian representative among 45 bands coming from the whole Europe, Canada and U.S.A.. From their performance, the song "Talk about suffering" has been chosen for the official CD "Ewob 2003". On 1st May 2003 the CD "Mille Papaveri Rossi" has been published; it is a collection of songs written by Fabrizio De Andrč, revisited and rearranged by other authors. MSQ's contributed with a very original version of "Un Giudice" and with a rearrangement of "Il Pescatore" for acoustic guitar only, played by Stefano Santangelo. Some new songs that will be published in the next CD have been presented. Wed 9 April 2003 "live guest" on Radio Base Popolare Network in Mestre - VE. The song "Bombay", sang by the school children, has been chosen as soundtrack for the yearly Theatre Show at the Istituto d'Arte Modigliani in Padova (2002-2003). Tue 28 Jan 2003 the song "Lettera d'Amore ad una Balena", new version, has been transitted during the radio show DEMO by Michael Pergolani and Renato Marengo at RAI STEREO UNO and inserted in their Internet Site. 2002 On 13 and 14 December 2002 MSQ participated, on the main stage in Padua, to the TV Show "Telethon" transmitted by RAI. The CD "L'inverno dei coltelli" has been presented and entirely transmitted by RADIO HOLSTEBRO - Denmark - during the acoustic's music show leaded by Kjell Adreassen (Nov/Dec 2002). Wed 13 November 2002 MSQ have been invited to the radio show "Rock Wave" DI.RADIO, leaded on studio by Maurizio Calzavara and Flavio Bilato, with interview and live show. Fri 7 June 2002 at MADE IN BO, Arena Parco Nord - Bologna, the grand final of Bologna Music Festival 2002 has taken place: 16 competing finalists, in front of 500 bands participating to the national selections, "fighted" with musical weapons, generating a two-hours show of powerful show. Winners of the performance: MIDEANDO STRING QUARTET. (www.amproductions.it) July 2002: Participation to the TV show "NOTE DI FIABA", RAIUNO, leaded by Pippo Baudo and recorded in Fiabilandia (Rimini). May 2002: Tour in The Nederland at EWOB 2002 "International Acoustic Music European Festival" - Voorthuizen. From their live exhibition, the song "Lettera d'amore ad una balena" has been included in the CD "EWOB 2002", worldwide distributed. Only 26 bands, out of 42 participants from all over the World, have beed choosen for this compilation. On Feb 2002, after passing the regional selections, MSQ's participated to the national final of SANREMO ROCK that took place in Sanremo, by Radio RAI 2 Hall. On Feb 2002 the CD has been presented by Radio Gold Popolare Network (Alessandria) with an interview leaded in studio by Pietro Scazzola. 2001 The band has been listed from Jan 2001 on VITAMINIC Internet site and got a review on the musical magazine GUITAR CLUB undersigned by Giorgio Fairsoni. On 29 October 2001 the band is guest in Radio San Marino studios, participating to the show "San Marino New Generation" leaded by DJ Stefanino. The CD "L'inverno dei coltelli" has been transmitted during the radio show "JETLAG" - Radio RAI STEREODUE - leaded by Arturo Stalteri (August 2001). Sept / Oct 2001: KRISTALLRADIO (Milano) presented more than once different songs from the CD "L'inverno dei coltelli" during the show "Highway to Blues". MSQ performed shows in all the most important Clubs in Veneto, participating to many acoustic music exhibitions in Theatres in Triveneto and also to the 1995 and 1996 editions od SUONASTRADA, organized by the City of Padua; in the last edition, MSQ received the highest number of votes from the audience, as reported on the newspapers "Il Gazzettino di Padova" and "Il Mattino di Padova". On August 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2002 MSQ officially participated also to the "FERRARA BUSKER'S FESTIVAL", the famous International Festival of Musician". MSQ officially participated also to the "FIRST EUROPEAN PARTY OF MUSIC" (that took place at the same time in 80 european cities) in Venice on 20 June 1999. Sponsors were Venice City and RadioRAI. The exhibition saw more than 4000 bands / musicians from all over Europe.
